OPPO A1k launches in India for 8,490 INR: Android Pie, 4,000mah battery, and Helio P22 SoC

After remaining in news and debuting in Russia last week, the OPPO A1k has now been launched in India. The smartphone is, however, only available via offline channels initially. The online availability is likely to be announced soon. The new smartphone is priced at INR8,490 and will be available in Red and Black color options.

The budget-oriented OPPO A1k runs the latest Android flavor and comes with an in-vogue water-drop notch and a metallic textured back. But the main highlight of the device is its hefty 4,000mAh battery which is AI optimized to avoid unnecessary dissipation of power.

Talking about the specifications, the OPPO A1k sports a 6.1-inch 1560x720p HD+ IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, there is a 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC ticking alongside IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, which can be expanded further up to 256GB using a microSD card.

There is no dual-camera luxury on the OPPO A1k. The device mounts a single primary camera of 8MP resolution with f/2.2 aperture at the back while on the front, it tacks on a standard 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture for the selfie buffs. The primary camera is, however, equipped with dual-tone LED flash, panorama, and HDR mode.

For the firmware, the OPPO A1k boots ColorOS 6.0 running on top of Android 9 Pie. Coming to its salient feature, the OPPO A1k houses an AI-optimized 4,000mAh battery with 2X fast charging technology. Unfortunately, the OPPO A1k comes without a fingerprint scanner but for biometric authentication, it holds on to Face Unlock feature.

As far as the connectivity options are concerned, the OPPO A1k supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, a micro-USB port, and dual SIM slots.

As the online availability of the OPPO A1k is still awaited we believe the smartphone is set for a tougher battle in the Indian market as a slew of other Chinese smartphones in the same ballpark come with better camera configuration, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon SoC, and a fingerprint scanner in tow.
