OPPO A5s launched for 9,990 INR: 6.2-inch HD+ screen, Helio P35 SoC, and 4,230mAh battery

OPPO budget smartphone portfolio has received a new entrant dubbed “OPPO A5s”. The latter is designed for budget segment and is powered by one of the latest MediaTek SoCs i.e. Helio P35, built on 12nm Fabrication Process. Besides, the OPPO A5s impresses upon its mirror finish back design, 19:9 aspect ratio screen, and a powerful battery.

The OPPO A5s is priced at INR9,990 for the 2GB RAM+32GB internal storage model. However, the price of the other 4GB RAM+64GB storage model is not revealed. While the base variant is already available to buy in Red and Black color options the 4GB variant will hit the shelves in May in Green and Gold paint jobs. OPPO A5s sells via all the leading e-retail platforms as well as offline shops.

The OPPO A5s comes with Smart Bar feature that lets users switch between apps, reply to text messages and transfer files in a jiffy. OPPO A5s is also armed with Smart Scan feature to scan business cards as well as scan and translate the text from images.

Talking about the specifications, the OPPO A5s sports a 6.2-inch 1520x720p HD+ LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio and laced with a small water-drop notch which holds the selfie camera.

Under the hood, the OPPO A5s makes use of the MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz. The chip performs in concert with up to 4GB RAM and up to 63GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. Thanks to IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU the OPPO A5 is capable of handling smooth gaming experience as well.

On the optics front, the OPPO A5s features a horizontally aligned dual camera system on the back which includes a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP secondary depth sensor. The rear-camera module is equipped with multi-frame anti-shake technology for unwavering video shooting. Up front, it holds an 8MP shooter for selfie and video chatting purposes.

For the firmware, the smartphone runs ColorOS 5.2.1 laid on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, out of the box. While a beefy 4,230mAh battery ensures juice for about 13.5 hours a fingerprint scanner mounted on the rear takes care of biometrics. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and micro USB port. It weighs 170 grams and measures 155.9×75.4×8.2mm in dimension

All things considered, the OPPO A5s with its sub-INR10,000 price will battle it out against the likes of Realme 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 which are also the most popular devices currently available in the Indian market.
