OPPO A9 launched with 6GB RAM, Helio P70 SoC, dual-rear cameras, and 4,020mAh battery
Fresh on the heels of launching the OPPO A5s in India and the OPPO A1k in Russia OPPO has launched another new smartphone, the OPPO A9, now in its homeland, China. The new smartphone is geared towards the mid-tier segment offering 6GB RAM, Helio P70 SoC, dual-rear cameras and more at an affordable price.
The OPPO A9 in China is priced at CNY1,799 (Approx. INR18,000) and will go on sale starting April 30. The smartphone comes with gradient back design and will be available in three color options- Mica Green, Ice Jade White, and Fluorite Purple- for the buyers to choose from.
On the front, the OPPO A9 flaunts a 6.5-inch 1080×2340 full HD+ IPS LCD drop-notch display with 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer on top.
Under the hood, the OPPO A9 has a 12nm MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core SoC that pumps power paired with Mali-G72 MP3, 6GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

For the optics, the OPPO A9 mounts a dual-rear camera setup which is vertically aligned and includes a 16MP primary sensor with Auto Focus and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The module is aided by Dual LED dual-tone flash, panorama, and HDR mode. For the selfie buffs, it tacks on a 16MP front-facing camera again equipped with HDR mode.
On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 9 Pie underneath ColorOS 6 while it draws juice from a 4,020mAh battery with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging support. The gamers can take advantage of the GameBoost 2.0 feature for the fast and seamless gaming experience. For biometrics purpose, theree is a circular fingerprint scanner mounted at the back, below the camera module.
The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS, dual SIM slots, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro USB port. The OPPO A9 weighs 190 grams and measures 162×76.1×8.3mm in dimension.
As of now, there is no word from the company regarding when the OPPO A9 will be accorded to the international markets, including India. Nonetheless, we expect it to be happening soon.
