POCO F2 Pro with SD 865 SoC and pop-up selfie camera launched in global market

Xiaomi surprised the smartphone world in 2018 by launching POCO F1 with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC at an astonishingly low launch price of INR20,999. Fans went gaga over it while they also waited for a second device in the POCO F series to come.

Today after really a long wait the second phone in the POCO F series has been made official although it is not the POCO F2, a direct sequel to the POCO F1. While the wait for the POCO F2 may continue for some more time, Xiaomi today launched the POCO F2 Pro for the global market.

The POCO F2 Pro comes with  AMOLED display, latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with 5G, 64MP quad-rear camera, a pop-up selfie camera, and 30W fast charging. The POCO F2 Pro is basically a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 Pro with two meagre changes. We will tell you about those changes later on.

Diving into the full specs, the POCO F2 Pro flaunts a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 500nits type brightness, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and the standard 60Hz refresh rate. The display acquires an expansive footprint since the selfie camera is fitted on the pop-up slider at the top.

Under the hood, the 7nm Snapdragon 865 octa-core SoC pumps power paired with Adreno 650 GPU. The smartphone comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM or 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB default storage. There is no MicroSD slot for the usual storage expansion.

The POCO F2 Pro boasts of a LiquidCool 2.0 technology combining the largest vapor chamber in the competition with the layers of graphite and graphene, which is said to take CPU temperature down by 14-degree centigrade.

The quad-camera module at the back is led by a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor. The other three sensors include a 5MP telephoto macro sensor, 13MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. The rear camera can shoot up to 8K videos at 30 fps. A 20 MP selfie camera lies on the pop-up slider with the support for HDR and 1080p videos recording at 30 fps.

Since the screen is AMOLED the fingerprint scanner is embedded underneath it. The phone runs Android 10 with POCO launcher 2.0. A large 4,700mAh battery is stacked inside that supplies fuel to the device helped by a 30W fast charger.

The POCO F2 Pro supports dual-mode 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack amongst other things.

Talking about the two minor changes that the POCO F2 Pro has versus the Redmi K30 Pro, the former comes with UFS 3.1 internal storage in all its trims whereas the latter has the UFS 3.1 storage for the 8GB RAM trims only. The 6GB trim supports UFS 3.0 storage.
Another difference lies in the fast charging. The POCO F2 Pro ships with 30W fast charging adapter while the Redmi K30 Pro has a 33W fast charging adapter out-of-the-box.

The POCO F2 Pro is priced at EUR499 (Approx.INR41,500) for the 6GB RAM+128GB storage model and EUR599 (Approx. INR50,000) for the 8GB RAM+256GB storage model. The phone will be available in Cyber Gray, Electric Purple, Neon Blue, and Phantom White color options. As of now, there is no word with regard to the availability of the POCO F2 Pro in India. We hope it will be introduced in the country quite soon.
