
Just a day after debuting in Thailand, the Realme 8 5G has now launched in India. The new smartphone is an upgrade to the Realme 8 that saw daylight in India last month. Compared to the Realme 8, the Realme 8 5G comes with many differences including a new chipset.
The Realme 8 5G has been launched in two memory bundles. The 4GB+128GB model is priced at INR14,999, while the 8GB+128GB model will cost INR16,999. The smartphone will go on sale starting April 28 via Flipkart, Realme.com, and offline retailers. It will be available in Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue color options.
In terms of specifications, the Realme 8 5G features a 6.5-inch FHD+ (1080×2400) display equipped with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, and 600 nits of brightness. For protection, the display is layered with Dragontrail Glass.

At the heart of the phone, there is a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC mated to up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB internal storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.
Regarding cameras, the Realme 8 5G is equipped with a triple rear camera setup that comprises a 48MP primary sensor, a 2MP monochrome sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. The front features a 16MP selfie camera that resides in a punch-hole cutout situated on the top-left corner.
For software, the Realme 8 5G runs Android 11 beneath the Realme UI 2.0. It packs a 5,000mAh battery for fuel which is equipped with 18W fast charging technology. The biometric is taken care of by a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The salient connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C port. Unlike the Thailand model, the Realme 8 5G lacks NFC for the Indian market.
