Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 debut with quad-rear cameras

UPDATE: The Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 have now been announced in India. The Seoul-based tech giant has skipped the Galaxy A52 5G variant for the Indian market. The Indian units of the Galaxy A52 and A72 are powered by Snapdragon 720G SoC instead of Snapdragon 732G SoC in the global versions. The Galaxy A52 for the 6GB+128GB variant is priced at INR26,499, while the 8GB+128GB variant costs INR27,999. The Galaxy A72 with 8GB+128GB configuration is priced at INR34,999, whereas its 8GB RAM+256GB model will set you back by INR37,999.
ORIGINAL STORY:
After a spate of leaks and rumors, Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited Galaxy A52 and A72 smartphones in an online event on Wednesday. Design-wise, both the smartphones look identical with a quad-rear camera at the back and Infinity O-display which means they sport a cutout at the top-center.
Nevertheless, the two smartphones differ in terms of battery capacity, camera features, and, of course, display size. The Galaxy A52 comes in 4G and 5G variants, while the A72 is offered in only a 4G variant.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy A52 starts at EUR349 (Approx. INR30,200), while the Galaxy A52 5G starts at EUR429 (Approx. INR37,100). The Galaxy A72, on the other hand, can be had with an initial price of EUR449 (Approx. INR38,800). The smartphones will be available in three color options: Black, Blue, Violet, and White.
Nevertheless, the pricing and availability details of these phones are not revealed yet for the Indian market.
Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G
The Galaxy A52 sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 800 nits of brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate that is, however, bumped up to a 120Hz refresh rate in the 5G variant. The display is Gorilla Glass 5 protected, while the phone’s body is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.
The quad-camera setup at the rear includes a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP camera that takes care of selfies and video chatting.
The Galaxy A52 is powered by Snapdragon 732G SoC, while its 5G variant uses Snapdragon 750G SoC. The chipsets are coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB expandable storage. The base variant of the 4G variant comes with 4GB RAM, but the 5G variant starts with 6GB RAM.
The Galaxy A52 runs One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. The fuel is derived from a 4,500mAh battery equipped with 25W fast charging tech, but only a 15W charger is included in the box.
The smartphone has an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers as some of the noteworthy inclusion.
Samsung Galaxy A72
The Galaxy A72 comes in only a 4G variant. It runs Android 11 with One UI 3.0 skin on top and is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC mated to up to 8GB RAM and 256GB expandable storage.
The rear camera array consists of a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro sensor, and an 8MP 3x telephoto lens. The front-facing selfie camera is rated at 32MP, similar to the Galaxy A52.
The battery is bigger with 5,000mAh and is aided by a 25W fast charging. You can expect two days of battery life between charges.
The Galaxy A72 features a larger 6.7-inch display that is AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate similar to the Galaxy A52. The rest of the features of the Galaxy A72 are also the same as the Galaxy A52.
