Xiaomi is one of the most popular and one of the most preferred Smartphone brand right now in India. This brand often comes with a lot of great offerings which delivers great performance at an affordable price point. Now, the company has recently released a new device in their A series. Yes, we are talking about the brand new Xiaomi Mi A3. Now, both the Mi A1 and the A2 did pretty well when it comes to sales and performance. Though there were still some issues with the 3.5mm jack and the Storage expandability. Anyways, it would be quite exciting to see what Mi A3 brings to the table.

In this post, we would be reviewing the third Android One device from Xiaomi, the Mi A3 and would be sharing our thoughts on the same with you guys. We would try to cover almost everything you need to know about this brand new Android One in this post. Now, if that sounds interesting, let us start our review for the Xiaomi Mi A3.

Design and Build

If you remember both the predecessors, the Mi A1 and the A2 were built out of metal and had a really solid material. Well, the Xiaomi decided to bring something new to the table. This time, with the Mi A3, the company decided to go with a glass back with an eye-catching design. Now, this glass back is also covered with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection which makes the device solid and not delicate. The buttons on the side of the device also feel quite tactile. Also, the device has a compact form factor which we really liked.

There is a curve on the back and to the sides making this device fit properly in the palm. You can easily control this device even with a single hand. Coming to the ports, the device comes with a USB Type C port, and Yes, this time, the device does support a 3.5mm Jack.

The slot on this device is a hybrid one, so you can either put in two SIM Cards or one SIM Card and a MicroSD Card. The camera does protrude a little bit, but even the Camera bump has the Gorilla Glass protection which does not make it prone to scratches.

Display and Unlock

The Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with an HD+ display which has a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels. Now, though this is a 720p panel, it is a Super AMOLED display which makes the viewing angles great. This display does have a cooler tint for those of you who were wondering.

The blacks just look amazing with this display, thanks to the super AMOLED Panel. The colour accuracy and brightness also seem to be pretty good with this device. One should enjoy watching Movies and playing games on this display overall.

When it comes to the unlock options, the Mi A3 becomes the first Xiaomi Device under 20k INR to have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, this is not the fastest sensor we have seen, thanks to the Stock Android that this device runs on. Apart from that, you do get the option for Face Unlock which also gets the job done pretty well.

Performance and Software

The Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset along with 4/6 GB of RAM. This combination along with the Stock Android turns out to be pretty snappy. The performance on the Mi A3 is something we can really embrace. There are no Ads or bloatware in the device out of the box. The multi-tasking is great, the apps load quicker, the gaming performance is also pretty great with this Android One device from Xiaomi. So kudos to Xiaomi for that.

Coming to the Software, the Xiaomi’s Mi A3 comes with a Stock Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Now, this is great for those who love the Stock Android Experience as we at the GadgetDiary do. Anyways, if you are someone who likes to have much more features and customization options, then you better skip the Mi A3 and look at other devices like the RealMe 5. But for everyone else, the software on the Mi A3 is quite snappy.

Camera and Battery

The Android One or the A series of devices from Xiaomi is also the camera-centric ones. We are saying this because both the Mi A1 and the A2 seems to have done a pretty great job when it comes to the Camera performance. This seems to be pretty good with the Xiaomi Mi A3 as well.

The device has the Sony IMX 586 48 MP Wide lens at the back along with 8MP Ultra-Wide  + 2MP depth sensor. Now, we have seen devices running on Stock Android which didn’t do too well with the Software Image processing.

This is not the case with the Mi A3. Xiaomi seems to have done a pretty good job with Google when it comes to software image processing. To the front, we can find a 32MP camera. The Xiaomi Mi A2 had a lot of complaints when it comes to the battery. Well, the Xiaomi did listen to those and decided to go with a 4030 mAh capacity battery which by the way does support Quick Charge 3.0.

Final Verdict

To conclude this review of the Xiaomi Mi A3, we can definitely say that this device is worth the price tag it comes for. It is a great pick for those who are looking for a device with good cameras and snappy performance.

Now, if you are someone who does not like Stock Android or likes having a feature-packed device, then the Mi A3 is probably not for you. For everyone else, the Mi A3 is a good pick if you are out there looking for your new Android Device under 15,000 INR.
