Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4X Pro Review | Best in Class

Xiaomi has seen such a fantastic growth since the launch of its mi3 one of the device which brought the revolution in the smartphone industry and their pricing, the phone exceeded the expectation of the brand and made huge sales in India.

It became so popular that it was sold offline for 30-50% more money than what it was originally cost. The strategy is very simple and straight forward to sell more products for less profit. Xiaomi has officially confirmed that, “limit the net profit margin after the tax and all duty for its entire hardware sales to a maximum of 5%” which in simple words means if a phone’s manufacturing cost is 10,000 INR then it will be sold for at most 10,500 INR, and thus leading to low profit but high sale being cost effective.

This policy has helped Xiaomi dominate the budget and mid-range budget devices market and Xiaomi even went on defeating the top tier brand Samsung in Q4 of 2017. Xiaomi has been performing excellently with such great pricing and features and thus is soaring high globally.

Recently Xiaomi entered the IOT market by manufacturing some Internet-based smart devices like the smart band, smart shoes, smart TV, etc. This again means a lot of tuff competition for Indian brands and market to compete against the Chinese giant.

Xiaomi launched the Mi LED TV 4X PRO which is one of the hot-selling TVs in India. This is a quick review of the TV as Xiaomi offers a lot of features in this device.

Specifications

  • 55-inches
  • 4K HDR
  • 20-Watt Speakers
  • Google Voice Search
  • Play Store, Chromecast
  • Bluetooth 4.2 LE
  • A 64-bit Quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

So, now as you have seen the specs, we know you are excited to know more about the product but wait let’s disclose the most waited feature of Mi 4X Pro. The TV is priced at Rs. 39,999 and this is a lucrative deal now let’s see how well it fairs in the practical usage in day to day life.

Design

Aesthetics of this TV are just wow it looks sleek and amazing for such a price it is one of the most premium devices of the bunch. With almost no bezels and slim body, it looks gorgeous and sharp with the huge 55inch display. The mind-blowing looks do not mean it’s not sturdy in fact it has no flimsy or flexible parts whatsoever. It has a “ Crystal Spray Finish” and a layer of silver paint on top of it.

Performance and User Experience

The Set-Up is easy and takes just seconds to install it in your room and it also comes with bundled necessary screws. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with PatchWall OS which has been updated a lot since its last launch with the previous series. PatchWall OS brings features like content and voice search which are a way to handy and useful that anyone would certainly prefer PatchWall OS over the vanilla android. It has a great combination of content, UI and hardware like Quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM help it run smooth and provide rich experience throughout the UI.

The UI itself is very smooth and intuitive. It’s easy to use and suggest new content every other day.

Above all, we have full access to the Play Store, which means lots of apps to load and enjoy.

But Xiaomi does not include support for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video natively, its neither pre-installed nor can be found in Play Store. This is a let down though it can be used via a sperate Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick. After which you can cast the app on your phone or PC. These online streaming companies have recently entered the Indian market and are seeing a boom but were too early for the brand to adopt.

Xiaomi said they will add Prime Video by end of Q2, 2019 but Netflix cannot but supported. As of now, you can enjoy YouTube and Hotstar.

As far as the Remote goes, we have 12 buttons on the remote and therefore is very easy to operate compared to a traditional remote. It has volume controls, navigation buttons, and a dedicated button to switch between Android TV and PatchWall.

Display & Audio

The Display here is just fabulous, it looks good and good viewing angles and in decent bright. It’s actually good to see 4K resolution leading to extreme clarity then HDR capabilities which lead to amazing colors and make an overall pleasure to watch. Its 10-bit panel and thus result in more accurate colors and good vibrancy. For the price, it offers punchy colors and great contrast but may require some tweaks out of the box.

The speakers are the only area which could have been better. It’s nothing like they don’t sound good but they are flat and audio even though being loud lacks punchy bass. For speakers, we used the Mi Soundbar and it became the best combination for watching movies or TV shows.

Available Ports

  • HDMI: 3 with one supporting ARC
  • USB 2.0: 2
  • 1 Antenna port
  • 1 network port
  • AV ports

Verdict:

Well, this is not certainly the ultimate TV for every budget but in the price range, 35k-45k INR its probably one of the best TVs available out there. Hits all the major point to make it stand out. If you are looking to get a new TV do check out the Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4X Pro.
